Ahhhh....Maui

It seems like so long ago (and weather-wise, it certainly was)....but our Thanksgiving Maui jaunt was great! Matt and Mel made their first visit to the Aloha State, and Darla joined us just a few days later--just in time for a Thanksgiving feast. The highlights? Well...it's hard to call out highlights beyond great weather, incredible snorkeling, hot sand, ocean football....but I'd say that seeing the first whale of the season playing 50 yards off the bow is one...and all the dolphins playing with the whale...and Matt finding a lobster on a reef in Ahihi Bay (lobster??!)....and the octopi, all the octopi....and who can beat a big humuhumunukunukuapua'a?

The Beans turns two!

I can't believe that Jillian Emma Sather is two years old! Indeed...she is now officially a toddler and you can tell....she loves her parents and she loves "brother" and she loves her Tatas!

We got to celebrate Jilly's birthday at the Rainforest Cafe...with the gorillas and fish and butterflies...it was awesome!

And at the end of the night, she looked sweetly at me and said, 'I go with you.' Melt my heart!

Happy birthday Jilly beans!

Don't miss these great video clips

I keep coming across little video clips that are too hilarious for words....and not to be missed. Here are just a few of the best:

And on a more serious note, this Keith Olbermann commentary is not to be missed:

Wives weekend

Last weekend the wives convened for a first-ever weekend together. We made merry....Med Express. Urban Outfitters. The condo. Sushi. Owl cookies. Pear scones. Birds in a nest. A walk in the rain (and by that, I mean downpour). Snuggling. No scrabble. Nearly a perfect weekend.

Our grand finale? The final episodes of Buffy season 6 season, punctuated with some WOOP WOOP shiraz and eternal thanks for the end of daylight savings time (we're no spring chickens anymore, except Andy). And yes, I fell asleep in the middle of the madness. So what if you don't understand that I can watch TV without my eyes open?!

Welcome Soren!

On Monday, Jen was thrilled to be in SLC to welcome our newest little nephew, Soren Moffat!

Soren was born to parents Steve and Liv on October 20, 2008 and weighed in at 9lbs 2oz and is 22 inches long. He's a big guy!

Jen reports that he looks just like his dad (and following that string...just like his grandfather Ray and his auntie Jen).

The new, larger Moffat family went home last night.....and we wish them many naps and lots of luck!

The Pack

I admit it - I like the Green Bay Packers. Now, I like the Seahawks more....but after my very first NFL game, I admit that I was not tragically sad that the Hawks lost. Perhaps the Mariner's season beat winning right out of me....

But I digress.

We did have our very first little NFL game visit and experienced the loud / powerful crowd at Quest Field. After a false start of my own, I even grew to love (well....tolerate) the Packers fans that were just everywhere...and grew louder and louder as their lead grew larger and larger.

But really, the most fun was watching Becca and Clint - fresh from SLC - as they watched the Pack win. Indeed, they were the coolest Packers fans (and the most sober) around. Oh, and they held their own while walking to the car after the game, when I thought we had a legitimate chance of inciting a riot.

PS - it is well worth mentioning how much of a talent Clint is.....not only can he watch a very important game (which he was broadcasting from home 1,000 miles away but watching on his computer hooked up to our TV)....he can and did fix every device in our house. Now if only the damn external hard drive / server thingy worked right....

Zion in October...

We did a fly-by Utah visit....not 36 hours long....for Tracy Wrigley's wedding. After a cold and rainy weekend at Indralaya, it was nice that SLC was 75 degrees and beautiful! It was lovely to hatch fun weekend plans with Becca and Clint (how often can we say that??! We are so excited they're coming to visit...), see Steve and Liv's newly-finished baby nursery, and visit with some of the folks (sorry Mom!!).

Enjoy a few pix!

(Really friendly cop? Nope! That's Clint!)

We love #65!!

Jen and I went to Boise this weekend to see our nephew Joel play football on his high school varsity team. It was awesome! Not only does Timberline High play at Boise State's college stadium (can you say "smurf turf"???), but he's mighty good, too! While he has played on the offense line for years, this year he's on the defensive line (or the "D" line, as they say...). He plays his heart out and is so big and good that the opposing team has to put two or three guys on him to keep him from breaking through the line!

Needless to say, we LOVE #65!!

And, it's always fun to visit Matt, Melodee, Joel, Jessica and Tom. We hit Boise on a beautiful and sunny fall day and had a great visit.

We met Joel's awesome girlfriend, Chandler.

And Jess spent the whole day on Saturday with us! She and Tom are doing really well - and I can't believe she is 21!!!!!!!! (I am not that old, to be sure.)

Enjoy the photos!

Welcome a new member of our family....

It's true...Jen FINALLY retired Montana, her 1994 grey (actually, purple) Honda Civic....with 194,000 miles on it. Despite the timing belt fiasco of last month, it's still in great shape and I'm pretty sure she would have driven it into the ground if the air conditioning still worked!!

But, goodbye is goodbye--and on Saturday, we welcomed our newest pants family member home. Meet the 2009 Jetta SportWagen. (When you don't have kids, you have to celebrate the small stuff!) After ordering a version of this car, which was set to arrive sometime in December or January, we were overjoyed to get a call on Saturday that there was a car waiting down at the port...and it was nearly identical to Jen's order! So, she was willing to go with blue instead of grey - and a match made in heaven was born.

To celebrate, we promptly had our first road trip. On Sunday we drove to Yakima (forsaking even NFL football games!) ... to see the sun and buy a couch. Next weekend we'll drive back and pick up said couch.

How cute are we?

A quick pic from our trip to Orcas last weekend...cute, huh? (well, at least Jen is!)

FINALLY summer in Seattle....

Yep, it' s 80+ degrees here today. This is the view outside my window...wish I could be out sailing! But it's nice that today is September 16th and Western Washington hasn't had a drop of rain. The weather was nice enough that Noah walked over and we had coffee...outside!

Enjoy the view!

Now that summer is nearly over.....

I feel like I've missed most of summer! (Undoubtedly, I have missed much of the good weather...though September is proving to be beautiful). Because of work, I was at the office or in front of a computer for most of my time, starting in June. And because of a car accident, I'm off my bike :( until early next year.

But we did have some good weather this weekend...and Jen and I enjoyed the Coleman Pool for one last sunny day before the end of the season.

And don't feel too sorry for us....we did take Friday off and head up to a retreat (though work-related, through my work) on Orcas Island. The weather was beautiful and the company was good.

Love,
Meg

March Madness!

I am just back from SLC, where I visited Dad post-surgery. Had a lot of time to hang out with Dad (whose lymph nodes came back cancer-free and all looks good!) and see Court and the kids. Unluckily, mom and Roddy actually had to work, so I didn't get much of a chance to see them!

Dad seems to be doing well and recovering quickly.

Had fun with the kiddos--Sydney actually liked me for two whole days, and Isaac slept over at Ama and Ampa's house with me. It was really sweet and fun!

West Seattle....here we come!! part deux

See prior post....here are more pix!

West Seattle....here we come!!

It's nearly official....(the real estate pros call this "pending")...but there is an 'ole 50's rambler in the West Seattle neighborhood of Sunrise Heights with our names on it!

With any luck, we'll close a little earlier than our 2/7/08 closing date, so we can do a little painting (I see red, purple, and yellow in our future).
